Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) – blood clots in legs and arms

Deep blood clots can e.g. be caused by air travel or other sedentary conditions, but they can also be caused by defects in the veins as a consequence of surgery, birth, overweight, pregnancy or lack of fluid (dehydration).

During air travel it’s important you remember to use your leg muscles by moving toes and feet. If it’s possible, take walks about the cabin. It is also recommended to consume plenty of non-alcoholic drinks.

It is a good idea to use elastic stockings (compression stockings) during flights.
