Exercise during pregnancy

If you exercise during pregnancy you will, in addition to the documented health benefits, also

  • reduce the risk of miscarriage and premature birth
  • prevent toxaemia and gestational diabetes
  • ease the birth and facilitate recovery after birth

Walking, swimming and biking are suitable for exercise in the early stages of pregnancy. As your weight increases, you should opt for swimming or other types of exercise that do not require you to carry your own weight.

If you were not physically active prior to your pregnancy or you want to exercise more, visit your GP for guidance.
