Over the past two decades ihi Bupa has built a strong and broad-based management team.

We have an organisational structure that combines a low overhead base for handling the operational side of the business, with a dedicated management team which ensures we remain on the innovative cusp of the industry.

Commitment to health care and insurance

The way we structure our organisation encourages innovation and reflects our commitment to healthcare, not to administration. Unlike many insurance companies we are not staffed with lawyers but with entrepreneurs, doctors and care specialists.

Jan Madsen, MBA, is managing director of Bupa Denmark Services A/S. Having worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years, Jan joined ihi Bupa in December 2008 as head of our UK and Danish emergency medical centres, which arranges hundreds of evacuations and repatriations each year.

"The most rewarding aspect of my job is the opportunity to help people in need, and knowing that our service makes a difference. In a sense, we provide a product that people hope they will not need, but we are there when they do. For many in this business, it is more a lifestyle than a job and they are ready to take responsibility around the clock if needed."
