How to use the insurance

If you have a chronic disease

Our travel insurance is designed to cover acute illness and injury. Contact IHI if you suffer or have suffered from a condition before you begin your trip. This applies to every trip – not just at the time you take out the insurance. See also Art. 6.5. 'Acute assistance in the event of injury'.

Acute assistance in the event of injury

If you need help, you can contact IHI’s emergency service 24 hours a day on +45 33 15 33 00. We will send a guarantee of payment to hospitals, arrange home transportation and provide other kind of assistance in connection with acute illness and injury etc.

In case of injury

You must always notify IHI immediately in case of hospitalisation, compassionate emergency repatriation or visit, next-of-kin accompaniment, compassionate emergency visit, death and accident.

Physician bills and medicine expenses must be reported to IHI as soon as you have returned from your trip. You can print out a claim form from www.ihi.com or have one sent by calling +45 33 15 30 99. Please complete the form with as much detailed information as possible and send it to IHI together with all relevant original documentation such as receipts and itemised physician’s bills, expenses for medicine and dental treatment.

If you are hospitalised, you do not need to pay for the treatment yourself. As soon as IHI has guaranteed the payment, the hospital bill will be settled directly with IHI.
